Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral group interventions (CBT) on the selfesteem of students. In order to achieve this goal, a semi-experimental with pre-test and post-test between the
experimental and control groups were used. Research statistical society consisted of all students’ graduate psychology Tehran Psychiatric Institute in 2013-2014. Sample in this study is based on objective non-random sampling
of 120 volunteer students who test below the cut-off point Self Esteem (30.40) were acquired, Morgan, 60 students were selected based on a formula selected randomly in two groups tested were replaced. Coppersmith selfesteem Questionnaire to measure the dependent variable was analyzed with 58 questions. Independent variable
cognitive - behavioral therapy, (CBT) techniques was done using cognitive-behavioral group sessions in 10 1.5
hours a day in the week. Before group meetings, participants completed a self-esteem questionnaire. After conducting the questionnaires and were transferred to the 20SPSS. For statistical analysis of the test scores of experimental and control groups, using analysis of covariance, there is significant differences between the two groups
were studied. The results showed that the intervention group cognitive - behavioral causes a significant increase
in self-esteem among the students in the experimental group (mean = 32.486) compared to the control group.
(Mean = 25.181).
